I like this piece a lot. There's a very "WWII" vibe about it. This girl is longing for someone to return from battle, or perhaps for someone to come save her? Either way, she clearly resents what the conflict has brought to her world. I might even steal this as impetus for a short vignette (if I can ever motivate myself to compose a work of fiction).
